Review: Essence Silky Touch Blusher in Life’s a Cherry

Essence is cruelty-free, affordable and widely accessible brand in Singapore and they have a wide selection of products. When I first saw their blushers, I fell in love with Life’s a Cherry and I knew I had to get it right then and there!

Essence describes this blusher as “silky-soft” and I agree with the description wholeheartedly! Apart from being so incredibly soft, it is also highly pigmented and a little goes a long way. I got mine in Life’s a Cherry and as you can see from the swatch above, the colour is a bright coral. As for staying power, it lasted on my oily skin for about 5 hours and after I blotted my face, the colour faded but still pretty! =)

The packaging is simple, sturdy and practical. The clear plastic case allows you to see the colour of the blush.

This retails for SG$5.50 which is oh so cheap! =)

If you haven’t tried this blusher, I really don’t know what you’re waiting for. It’s cruelty-free, dirt cheap, highly pigmented and lasts a really long time. This is truly amazing for those who are on a budget or who can’t get enough of blushers. 😉

If you’ve tried this blusher, let me know what you think about it. Have an awesome day/night and I’ll talk to you soon! ❤

Review: NYX HD Wand Concealer

I’ve heard raving reviews about this concealer and I just noticed that it was available here about a few months back. Thought I would give this a try. I bought the one in Medium which is described as medium beige with olive undertones but honestly it’s more peach and pink than yellow.

NYX_Concealer NYX_Concealerswatch

NYX claims this product to be one of their “bestsellers”. This concealer claims to be “lightweight” with a “medium to heavy” coverage that effectively covers up blemishes and dark circles without looking “cakey”.

During my first application, I was immensely impressed by its thin and creamy consistency and how lightweight it was but don’t let that fool you! The concealer was highly effective at covering up my dark circles  without looking cakey and it instantly gave me a fresh look. Next, I tried it on my blemishes to see how well it fared and again, I was impressed. I didn’t expect much really, seeing how disappointing Urban Decay’s Naked concealer was on me but this one managed to lighten my blemishes considerably.

I definitely agree with its claims that it has medium to full coverage. In terms of staying power, this concealer lasted on my under-eye area for nine hours after setting it with my foundation. After nine hours, I noticed tiny creasing that was hardly noticeable. As for my blemishes, it stayed on my face for about 4 hours until my skin started to get oily. Another thing I noticed is that this concealer has a semi-matte and brightening effect so it can double up as a highlighter.

I love the packaging! It’s sleek, clean and travel-friendly.

This retails for SG$15.90 which is pretty average for a drugstore concealer.

This has become my HG under-eye concealer! I love it and I highly recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable under-eye concealer. =) This concealer which can double up as a highlighter is lightweight, has amazing coverage, affordable and cruelty-free! As of now, I cannot think of any bad points with it.

Have an amazing day/night and I’ll talk to you soon!

Review: The Balm Betty-Lou Manizer

Unlike some people, I’m not blessed with beautiful and radiant skin so I tend to rely heavily on blushers and bronzers to add warmth and life to my skin. As much as I love matte bronzer, I love the shimmery ones too. Recently, I tried a bronzer, Betty-Lou Manizer from The Balm and it’s pretty darn amazing and I simply just have to share my thoughts about it with you!

The Balm claims that this “silky smooth” bronzer is an “all-in-one” product that acts as a an eyeshadow, shimmer as well as a highlighter.

When I first swatched this, I couldn’t help but notice how soft, fine and smooth it was. For something that is so finely milled, the colour pay-off is exceptional! You only need the smallest amount to add shimmer to your skin. As you can see from the swatch, it is a warm bronze with golden shimmer that compliments warm to dark skin tones. If you fair to pale skin, fret not as you can use this as a shadow! This is also a versatile product and you can use it for blusher, bronzer, shadow and even highlighter. However, take note that it does not complement all skin tones.

As always, The Balm scores full points for its high quality, beautiful vintage packaging that is both sturdy and travel-friendly. It also has a mirror which is very convenient for those on-the-go.

This retails for SG$36.90 at Luxola which is not the cheapest bronzer but it’s definitely worth it for its high quality.

I highly recommend this bronzer for those who love shimmery bronzer. It’s cruelty-free, high quality with great colour payoff as well as sturdy and gorgeous packaging. What more can you ask for? =)

What are your thoughts on Betty-Lou Manizer? Have an amazing day/night and I’ll talk to you soon!

Must Have Beauty Tool Tag

Tool Tag

Hey guys, I hope you’re doing well! =) I’ve been so busy lately that I’ve trouble keeping with my blog schedule and I sincerely apologise for not posting last Thursday! Today, I’ll be doing the Must Have Beauty Tool Tag! Thank you lovely Sam and Marie for thinking of me and tagging me for this tag. Initially I was hesitant to do this tag as I don’t own beautiful brushes like most of the bloggers here and I was so shy to display my old brushes. Then I thought why not just purchase new ones since I need to replace my old brushes anyway! =)

The Rules:

Tag up to 5 people & let them know you tagged them

List what you want. If you got three things that are unbelievable or twenty… Don’t care, just share

Cannot be actual makeup, skin care, or hair care products – just the tools/gadgets you use

My essential makeup tools:

Elf Studio Blush Brush

Too many people have raved about this brush and I’m so glad I bought it. This cruelty-free and vegan brush is the perfect blush brush and it can double up as contour brush too! It’s bristles are so incredibly soft and it picks up just the right amount of product that I need. I can’t recommend this enough. =)

Elf Studio Angled Blush Brush

This is another favourite of mine! Another blush brush you say? Yes, yes indeed. This is perfect for blending my blush and bronzer! Just like the blush brush, this one is incredibly soft and vegan-friendly.

Eco Tools Tapered Blush Brush

Eco Tools is another brand creates vegan-friendly, affordable and amazing brushes. This big fluffy brush is not used for blusher as it’s a bit too big for my cheeks so I use this for applying bronzer to add warmth to my face. I use this to dip in my bronzer and brush it on my temples, under my cheek bones and my jawline.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Brush

UD Brush

This brush comes together with my Naked Palette and this is perfect for applying shadows and blending the crease area. It’s not too fluffy and it’s firm enough to blend the crease area to create a flawless look! The fact that it’s double-ended means that I don’t need a lot unnecessary eye brushes!

So there you have my favourite makeup brushes! I know that I’m supposed to tag up to 5 people but I think it’s more fun if tag everyone reading this post to do it! Please tag me if you’re doing this tag so I can read your post and check out the tools you’re using! I hope you’re all having an amazing weekend and I’ll talk to you soon! ❤

May Favourites

May Favs

Hey guys, hope you’re well! =) It’s June, guys! We have only a few months until 2016. Wow. Anyway, last month I bought quite a lot of new makeup to try out and I’ve fallen in love with most of them. However, I found myself reaching out for these products the most:

Too Faced- Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick

I simply cannot get enough of these lipsticks! As you can see I bought two more and I’m not going to stop there, trust me! Why do I love them so much? It’s the long wearing formula that doesn’t dry my lips, their incredibly bright and beautiful colours as well as the stain they leave behind. They are just irresistible! ❤

Milani Baked Blusher- Corallina

Milani Corallista

This is an insanely pigmented and glittery blusher that is incredibly pretty! If you’re curious to know how great this is, hop on over here to read its full review!

Urban Decay Eye Primer-Sin

On days when I’m too lazy to put on eyeshadow, I’ll just apply a layer of this and I”m good to go! This is a shimmery taupe colour that is perfect for daily wear. Apart from using this as a cream eyeshadow, I also use this as a primer, albeit rarely as it’s highly pigmented.

The Balm-Hot Mama

The Balm_ Hot Mama

This is another favourite of mine for the month of May. Unlike Corallina, this is subtle wash of shimmer that gives you a healthy glow. It also acts as a perfect coral highlighter. For an in-depth review, click here.

What have you been loving in May? Let me know! =)

Have an amazing day/night and I’ll talk to you soon!

Review: Essence Extra Longlasting Eyeliner Pen

Hey guys, I hope you’re well! =) I don’t know about you but an eyeliner is a staple in my daily makeup routine and trust me when I say that I can’t live without it! I tend to change my eyeliner for fun and to see which one is the best for me. So far I’ve been loving this one from Essence which I will be reviewing today.

Essence claims that this eyeliner has an “original japanese ink” allowing it to give precise application. It has a brush like tip and it’s only available in black.

This eyeliner is jet black and longlasting indeed! Although I picked up the non-waterproof one, it stayed on my eyelids all day without smudging. I even wore it on an unbearably hot and humid day and it stayed put without smudging! Phew! In all honesty, I don’t know anything about japanese ink but I got to say that this eyeliner is fantastic. The brush tip does allow a clean and precise application and I found that I could draw simple and elaborate lines with ease.

This comes in a standard pen-like packaging which is sturdy and handy for on-the-go.

This retails for less than SG$5 at Watsons which is incredibly cheap and it makes the perfect daily eyeliner for me! =)

I am absolutely in love with this eyeliner and I would recommend this to everyone! It is perfect for those hunting for an affordable and cruelty-free eyeliner! You don’t have to worry if you need to be careful with application or if it smudges. It doesn’t! Don’t worry, I’ve done the “hard work” for you! =)

Let me know if I should try any other amazing cruelty-free eyeliner!

Have an amazing day/night and I’ll talk to you soon! ❤

Liebster Award

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

Hey guys, I hope you’re well! I was kindly nominated by Zovesta (Glamour Vortex) for this award a few weeks back. Thank you so much Zovesta! Guys, if you haven’t checked out her amazing blog, you should! She has a wide array of amazing makeup reviews and as well as gorgeous makeup looks! =)

Zovesta’s Questions

1. What is your makeup inspiration?

I don’t really have one. I put on makeup mostly based on mood? Can that be considered as an inspiration?

2. Do you change makeup styles often?

Sometimes when I go out at night or during the weekends, I tend to be more adventurous and wear slightly bold makeup. On weekdays, I go for natural and nude makeup looks for work.

3. What’s your favourite season?

I’ve only experienced summer so summer it is!

4. Best drugstore purchase vs your best mid-high-end purchase?

Best drugstore would be my Milani blusher vs my The Balm Hot Mama. They are both amazing and pretty similar I think but I’ll go with Hot Mama.

5. Do you budget for your cosmetics ahead of time, or just do it spur of the moment for fun?

I don’t really buy makeup on impulse but if I really want something, I’ll just buy it.

6. What’s been on your telly lately?

Constantine! =) Oh my goodness, this show freaks me out but it’s so good that I can’t stop watching it!

7. What’s the oddest compliment you’ve ever received?

“Nice eyeballs.” Yup. Nice eyeballs? Really? Really?? I just said thank you in return.

8. Nonfiction or fiction?

Definitely fiction! I love to immerse myself in someone else’s world and get lost in it. =)

9. How much has your makeup style changed over the years?

Hmm…It hasn’t changed drastically but I think my makeup skills are better now, thanks to the amazing makeup gurus/youtubers!

10. What’s some makeup you know isn’t the most flattering, but you wear and rock anyway just because you love it?

I’m not the most adventurous when it comes to makeup but I have to say green eyeshadows. I don’t look good in them but once I wore it anyway just because the shade is pretty and I wanted to. Haha!

11. Shaken or stirred? =P Alright… cream or powders?

Hahahaha!!! Powder as I have oily skin.

Thank you once again Zovesta for nominnating me for this award, I really appreciate it! ❤

Have an amazing day/night guys and I’ll talk to you soon! ❤

Review: The Balm Blusher Hot Mama

The Balm_ Hot Mama

Hey guys, how’re you doing? I hope everything is well and good! =) Today I’ll be reviewing Hot Mama (hot name for a blusher) by The Balm. The Balm is a cruelty-free brand that has a number of vegan options and I’m so excited to try more of their products!

The Balm_Hotmama

The Balm claims that this “versatile” blusher has a “smooth and fine” texture with a “peachy pink” shade.

I agree with The Balm’s claim that this product is versatile. I have used is as a blusher, highlighter and eyeshadow and they turned out pretty well! Although the colour is really bright and vibrant in the pan, it is actually not highly pigmented and bold as I had expected. Pictured above, you can see that it gives a subtle golden shimmer (that my camera can’t pick up!) when it is blended out. Honestly I’m a bit disappointed that it’s not highly pigmented but it still gave me a beautiful glow.

This blusher is finely milled giving it a smooth and soft texture that is blendable. I find that this shade of “peachy pink” which is close to coral complements most skin tone. Another thing that I’m pleased with is its staying power. It lasted for about 6 hours on my oily skin and I think that’s pretty great.

The Balm has the prettiest vintage packagings and this and this one is no different! I really love the vintage and compact packaging. The mirror is also a plus!

This retails for SG$29.90 which is slightly pricey but I have to say that the quality is amazing.

I recommend this beautiful blusher if you’re a big fan of subtle coral shimmery blusher. Although it’s marketed as a blusher, it’s not highly pigmented and I believe it works better as a highlighter. Even though it’s incredibly pretty, I wish it was just a slightly more pigmented.

If you’ve tried this blusher, let me know what you think about it!

Have an amazing day/night and I’ll talk to you soon! ❤
